Story
To announce Ram’s resolve and gauge Lanka’s strength, Hanuman allowed his tail to be ignited and then burnt strategic parts of the city, sparing innocents. Returning, he bowed only to Ram and Sita in his heart—strength with humility.
Why it matters
Hanuman doesn't burn Lanka out of anger — the epic notes he deliberately spares the homes of the innocent, including Vibhishan's. Even in a show of overwhelming strength, restraint and discernment still apply.
